The Marion-Ralls Regional Port Authority was awarded $700,000 in grant funds from the EPA to assess environmental conditions at identified priority sites and develop an area-wide plan for redevelopment using community input. Downtown Hannibal, Palmyra’s central corridor, and downtown New London are priority areas for redevelopment. Private property owners can receive financial assistance to investigate known or unknown environmental conditions that might hinder redevelopment. Each city may also utilize grant funds to conduct activities that will forge a path toward remediating contaminated sites, eventually revitalizing economically distressed areas.
MRRPA, in conjunction with Eocene Environmental Group, the Port Authority’s selected Qualified Environmental Professional, will complete approximately 23 Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), 7 Phase II ESAs, 5 supplemental assessments, and 4 Site Reuse Plans.
